In March/April 1994 a number of articles about the potential of the Internet as a core enabling technology for a proposed John Muir Centre was posted to various *.environment newsgroups. These postings are archived here as they form the first records of the John Muir Centre on Internet.

In actual fact, the origins of the JMC Project to establish a Centre in Muir's birthplace of Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland, can be traced back to 1988 and relevant documents will be identified and, if possible, be made part of this archive.
