THE LIFE AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF JOHN MUIR
31 July - 2 October
"When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop, striped and
dotted with continents and islands, flying through space with the other
stars, all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe
appears as an infinite storm of beauty."
John Muir, The Story of My Boyhood and Youth (1913)
This major exhibition celebrates the life and achievements of Scottish-born conservationist John Muir, marking the 150th anniversary of his emigration to the United States. There he won fame as a climber, geologist and nature-writer. But above all, he is remembered for his achievements in blazing a trail for the conservation movement in America, earning him the title of the Father of The American National Parks.
